Every year, millions of people travel back to Bihar to celebrate Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath. Because of the huge festive rush, the Indian Railways runs several special trains to Bihar from different parts of the country.
In 2025, more than 150 festival specials and multiple long-distance trains have been introduced for passengers. Here is the detailed list with train numbers, routes, and schedules.
Why Special Trains to Bihar Are Important
Bihar has one of the largest migrant populations in India. Workers and students living in metro cities return home during festivals, creating heavy demand for train tickets. Popular trains like Rajdhani Express, Sampoorna Kranti, and Vaishali Express get booked out months in advance.
Special trains give passengers extra options and reduce crowding at stations like Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Barauni, Sitamarhi, and Raxaul.
